Pointless Plans

I planned to do so much with my day.

I had a list of things to do – I made it on Tuesday.

I listed things to do yesterday as well.

This has taught me a lesson.

I can’t plan everything.

Something else always happens, somethings always comes up.

So the studying I was going to do today has not been done. I had planned for so much work to be done. I was going to copy up notes, organise folders, attempt and reattempt example questions.

The things I have managed to do were unplanned and circumstancial.

A gas man came today. He had to get to the cupboard with the gas meter in and I cleared a path – so my room is now tidy.

I realised I would have no clean underwear after tomorrow – so my washing is done.

I needed a plate to eat from – so the dishes are clean.

But I have done no work, no studying and no folder sorting.

In a way, it has been a successful day.

Maybe I’ll plan to clean and I may then get some work done.

Though I’ve learnt that my plans are pointless.

Back Into Routine

Along with the changing seasons, for me, I’m having to try to get back into the routine of university.

I need to get my sleeping pattern back. I’m finding getting up for a nine o’clock lecture on Monday morning especially difficult.

But the most important thing that I need I need to find the motivation to do regularly is to study. Last year I had a good routine, I got the work I needed to do done on time and handed in assignments with plenty time to spare.

All I wanna do is sleep.

Sociable at the Social

Moving into the second year of my University degree means helping out the first years to settle in smoothly. This week I’ve attended a lunch and a welcome party and got to know some of the first year students.

I really enjoy meeting new people and I hate that physics students are stereotyped as shy, unsociable introverts. I am the complete opposite, I’m definitely not shy, I love to mingle and am very out going.

I literally went up to a group of the new students and started chatting.

I feel really helpful when I can answer questions and queries and know what I’m taking about. I got a few lads who I’m getting on with quite well. There are so many more students this year then there were last year in my group.

Tomorrow, we’re all meeting at the local Wetherspoon’s for a late lunch and a few drinks to continue the friendly mingle. I am really looking forward to it.
